About County Tax Atlas

County Tax Atlas is an independent reference that makes U.S. property-tax burden easy to compare across counties and states. It is built from public-domain U.S. Census Bureau survey data (ACS 2020–2024 5-year estimates, table-based Summary File) and adds navigation, rankings, an estimator and plain-English guides.

It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official source of the Census Bureau or any tax authority. Figures are typical values for comparison and planning, not individual assessments. For your exact bill, always consult your county assessor or tax collector.

Why it exists

Property-tax information is scattered across thousands of local offices in different formats. This site brings the national picture together from one consistent dataset, explains what the numbers mean, and points you to the authority for specifics.
